Dr Anna Pedersen

Specialist Anaesthetist

Dr Anna Pedersen is an Australian trained anaesthetist with an interest in anaesthesia for obstetrics and gynaecology.

Dr Anna Pedersen graduated from Imperial College, London with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc honours) in neuroscience. Dr Pedersen commenced anaesthetic training in London before moving to Australia where she completed her anaesthetic training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA), and a member of the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association (OAA).

Dr Anna Pedersen is Clinical Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia at the Northern Beaches Hospital. She is active in education and training for registrars and nurses. She is also actively involved with clinical governance with the aim of achieving best outcomes for all patients.

As well as general anesthesia for adults and children, she also specialises in regional anaesthesia and procedural sedation. Her main areas of practice are obstetrics and gynecology, eye surgery and plastic surgery.

Dr Pedersen is a regular Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at the Northern Beaches hospital, as well as at The Sydney Adventist hospital (SAN), Chatswood Private hospital and Hunters Hill Private hospital. She is also an accredited VMO at Macquarie University Hospital and North Shore Private hospital. She has previously been a CareFlight doctor in Sydney and Darwin specialising in medical rescue and retrieval work.

Outside of work Dr Pedersen enjoys sculpture, photography, the ocean, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and two children. Dr Pedersen is also interested in overseas medical development, her medical expeditions include Mongolia, Bali, Fiji and Borneo.
