Dr M Talat Uppal
Women’s Health Road Director, Gynaecologist Specialist
Dr Talat Uppal is an experienced Gynaecologist with an ASUM awarded Diploma of Diagnostic ultrasound. She is the Director of Women’s Health Road, an RACGP-accredited practice, where she has pioneered an integrated, multidisciplinary model of care.
Her niche area of expertise lies in the management of abnormal menstrual bleeding (AUB), and she is the founder of Australia’s first AUB Management Hub—a hybrid, digitally enhanced model of care that addresses the needs of women with heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) and iron deficiency &/anaemia. Dr Uppal has also established a co-located charity with the Bleed Better initiative, establishing an International Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Day on 11th May annually to raise awareness of HMB, which affects 25% of women of reproductive age.
Dr. Uppal holds the position of Clinical Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Macquarie University. Previously, she held the role of Senior Obstetrics Staff Specialist and Clinical Director of Women’s, Children & Family Health at Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals for over a decade. She is a Fellow of both the Australian Association for Quality in Health Care and the Australasian College of Health Service Management. In recognition of her contributions to GP Clinical Education, she was awarded the RANZCOG Conspicuous Service Medal in 2018. Additionally, she is one of RANZCOG’s media spokespersons, regularly contributing to articles, podcasts, panels, and media interviews on women’s health topics, especially around AUB in Menopause management. Passionate about digital health, Dr Uppal also serves as an ambassador for Australia’s largest AI scribe company, Heidi Health and is a dedicated clinical educator, supporting the vital role of General Practitioners in women's health. She is the RANZCOG digital health representative on SPARKED.au for interoperability.
