Associate Professor M. Talat Uppal is an experienced Gynaecologist and the Director of Women’s Health Road. She see patients across a broad range of gynaecological concerns, with particular expertise in:

  • Heavy and abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB/HMB)

  • Iron deficiency and anaemia related to menstrual blood loss

  • Iron Infusion therapy

  • Gynaecological ultrasound (including transvaginal ultrasound)

  • IUD insertion and removal

  • Implanon insertion and removal

  • Menopause management

  • Endometriosis & Adenomyosis

  • Uterine Fibroids & Polyps

  • Cervical screening & Colposcopy

A/Prof Uppal also operates at Macquarie University Hospital, offering a full range of gynaecological procedures including hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, endometrial ablation, and more. A GP referral is required for surgical consultations.

A/Prof Uppal founded Australia's first Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB) Management Hub at WHR — a multidisciplinary, digitally integrated model of care that brings together gynaecology, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and mental health support under one roof. She also established the Bleed Better initiative, which marks International Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Day (IHMBD) on 11 May each year to raise awareness of a condition affecting one in four women of reproductive age.

A/Prof Uppal holds a specialist ultrasound qualification (Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound, ASUM) and is a Clinical Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Macquarie University.
